BIOGRAPHY: Prof. Dr. SaadMekhilef is an IEEE and IET Fellow. He is a Distinguished Professor at the School of Science, Computing and Engineering Technologies, Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia, an Honorary Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Malaya, and a distinguished visiting professor at the Institute of Sustainable Energy, UniversitiTenagaNasional, Malaysia. He authored and co-authored more than 800 publications in academic journals and proceedings, five books with more than 54,000 citations, an H-index of 113, and more than 85 Ph.D. students who graduated under his supervision. He serves as an editorial board member for many top journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, IEEE Open Journal of Industrial Electronics, IET Renewable Power Generation, E-Prime, Journal of Power Electronics, and International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications. His research interests include Power Conversion Techniques, Control of Power Converters, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), Renewable Energy, and Energy Efficiency.

How High Temperatures Impact PV System Efficiency Case Study: Algeria

Prof. Dr. Mohammed Wadi is a highly accomplished electrical engineer with a rich background spanning academia and industry. He holds a BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering from the Islamic University of Gaza, Palestine (2006 and 2012), and a Ph.D. in power systems from Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey (2017). Presently, Mohammed wadi serves as an Assistant Professor at the department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at Istanbul SabahattinZaim University in Istanbul, Turkey. In this capacity, he instructs various courses such as Circuit I & II, Logic Design, Microcontrollers, Embedded Systems, Power Systems Analysis, Energy Transmission Systems High Voltage Techniques, Protection in Power Systems, Renewable Energy and Power Systems Reliability.

His primary research interests encompass the reliability Assessment of Power Systems, Smart Grids, Renewable Energy, Fault Detection in Power Systems, Machine Learning and Fuzzy Control.

Prof. Dr. Adel Merabbat

Problem Formulation for Optimization: Case of a Network of Interconnected Microgrids

BIOGRAPHY: Dr. Adel Merabet received the B. Eng. degree in Automatic from the University of BajiMokhtar, Annaba, Algeria, in 1998, the M.Sc. degree in Automatic and Applied Computer from EcoleCentrale de Nantes, Nantes, France, in 2002, and the Ph.D. degree in Engineering from the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi, Chicoutimi, Quebec, Canada, in 2007. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow, in 2007-2008, at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. In 2008, he joined Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Canada, where he is currently a Professor with the Division of Engineering. During 2016–2017, he was a Visiting Academic with the Department of Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering, University of Sharjah, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. In 2019, he was the recipient of the Tan Chin Tuan Exchange Fellowship in Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. In 2021 and 2024, he was a Visiting Research Scientist with Department of Electrical Engineering, Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He is also a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada. He has published more than 100 articles in proceedings, journals and book chapters. His research interests include renewable energy, energy management, microgrids, advanced control, electric drives, artificial intelligence, and smart grid.
